Youth Football Plays and Playbooks for coaching the  I Formation

The Pro formation is one of the most dangerous rushing offenses used at the youth level today.

Because of the split backfield opposing defenses take longer to read the gap than a traditional I formation.  Became popular in the Bill Walsh "West Coast Offense."

Can be a versatile offense for both rushing and passing by replacing the tight end for a third wide receiver in the slot.

The pro formation is a very balanced offensive formation, many youth football teams use this formation for both power running attacks and west coast style passing attacks.

Unlike the I formation there is no traditional fullback or lead blocker as either running back can be the primary ball carrier on any given play. This forces defenses to cover both running backs and denys them the ability to key off the fullback as in the I formation.

Out of the pro formation you can run a variety of running plays such as straight ahead dives, sweeps, misdirection and power leads.

Not only can you run out of the pro formation, but you can also pass, with two primary wide receivers, a tight end and two running backs the QB has plenty of options.
