Youth Football Plays and Playbooks for coaching the  I Formation

The singleback formation or "Ace" formation is primarily a pass first, run second type of offense. It is built off of the I formation and replaces the fullback with an extra wide receiver or another tight end.

If your team has alot of speed the singleback formation could be for you, as you can spread the field with receivers and still have a powerful rushing attack if you have a speedy running back.

Teams that are not overal very fast or cannot pass should not run this offense.

The singleback formation is the foundation of the spread offense. At the youth level it is very difficult but not impossible to run a spread type offense. To run a spread offense you must have the practice and study time to make it work this is often not possible in most youth football leagues.

Our singleback formation playbooks are a simplified version of this offense. Out of the singleback formation you will be able to attack all areas of the field with your 3-4 wide receivers. Our singleback formation utilizes a mix of quick short passes, intermediate bootleg passes, screen passes, reverses and sweep plays to keep the defense off balance.

While nowhere near as complex as something run at the high school or college level it is possible to run this style of offense at the youth level out of the singleback formation.

To be successful using this formation you should have a quarterback who can make good decisions, has throwing accuracy and somewhat mobile for bootleg type passes.
